th.musil explains, how to understand this ambisonic athmosphere in the cube. A square in a sphere, shown in simulation (pd, gem), written in ambisonic codes.-these need an ambisonic encoder in 4th order. the first order has three directions, but the 24 ambisonic -channels need the 4th order. the derivation of the rotation-prescriptons includes encoder and decoder: they act like matrixes when multiplying and adding signals.

Concerning the practical stuff, the projection shows the hemisphere pressed flat (and at a first glance, out of the context, the association to something astrological appears...smiley): aquator and northpole are assumed. the number 1 shows the position of the encoding direction of the sound. 24 speakers, produce 150 dbi, and are controlled by microfons, otherwise the whole system could break down. At the shown pojection the number 2-7 ostend the first reflexion of preparation level, 8-13 the encoding direction and so on. MOdification is possible by the multiplication factor of the order of ambisonic. Some further given exampels should make the thing clearer. We could hear the noise (sound) of steps, of two cars, an aeroplane, an helicopter, bird and loop. One source is going in and distribuited by 24 outgoings. Olga Neuwirth´s opera (Lost Highway after David lynch, performed in the helmut-list halle, graz 2003)was tested and brought into its characteristics here in the cube. Also Peter Ablinger experimented here with an walking installation, where you get from each speaker an different sound.
